Hey there hackers! Its Maria from Okianwa Holliday Hackers. I don’t have long left in Okinawa and when I got here I made a small “Okinawa Bucket list” and last weekend I got to complete one of the final things on my list

FINALLY GETTING TO COMPLETE PARASAILING

Whilst I was completing one of my bucket list activities, I came across a few hidden spots near Sesoko Island but first and foremost let me share with you my parasailing experience!

Parasailing

There’s a lot of places to go parasailing in Okinawa that will leave you wanting more, the views of the emerald sea is one of a kind. Depending on your own itinerary, I have provided links to parasailing in Araha beach which is by American Village (central Okinawa) and the one I attended which was located next to Sesoko island with Sesoko Beach Marine club.

Araha Parasailing: If you have a smart phone
simply go on your maps and type in Araha Beach or Mihama American village. Click on the transport button and it will show you exactly where to take the bus from. The bus will notify you on which stop to get off for American Village, listen out for the announcement on the bus.

This is how I used my smartphone, it also comes up with the estimated price!

MY EXPERIENCE: Sesoko Island Parasailing

Facilities Parking Onsite available
Bus Routes Yanbaru Express bus & Okinawa Bus 117

*** Hacker tip ***

Sesoko Parasailing: If you will be using the BUS it is better to take the Yanbaru express and book online for the reservation as it is quicker and cheaper than taking the Okinawa bus routes. I took the Yanbaru express bus to the Marine Beach club and I took the normal scheduled busses on the way back as I had finished earlier than expected.

From my personal experience, it is better to take the Yanbaru express bus as it stops less but if that doesn’t bother you than you are feel free to take any bus.

Yanbaru Express Bus – excuse my sunburnt face

Here is a small map to help you out

The bus will take drop you off to Motobu port, if you just keep walking up hill (7-10 minute walk) you will hit the big white building at the end of the road and it is the Sesoko Beach Marine Club.

If you are taking the car enter this mapcode 206795688*56 or phone number +81 980-47-7433 (it is always better to use the mapcode instead of the phone number) There is Parking spaces onsite.

The staff are absolutely accommodating and speak a good level of English, once we arrived we were greeted and had to sign our life away. (not literally)

****HACKER TIP****

If you ask the staff, they are able to charge your phones providing you have your charger with you – if you are like me and by the time you get there you are already on 20% then do not be shy to ask

FIRST THINGS FIRST! FOOD!!!

This is me dragging my friend to go faster because I was so hungry!

We got there a little early and so we headed to a nearby restaurant around the corner,

2-3minute drive and a 10-minute walk from the facility called “Drive in Hawaii” – there is also a Lawson I you prefer a small snack right before this restaurant.

It was so hard choosing what to eat because there was so much to chose from!

SEE WHAT I MEAN! SO MUCH FOOD!

I decided to get the Lobster with melted cheese on top and it was DELICIOUS!

ENOUGH ABOUT THE FOOD LETS GET BACK TO PARASAILING!

When we got back to the club house we were given the life jackets and they gave us our own basket and held our bags for us whilst we went parasailing.

The dock was just opposite the facility but they still drove us so we stopped right in front of our boat.

I had a small panic at first because as soon as you get lifted, the tingly feeling in your stomach start! But after I was just fine..

This is me saying goodbye to all my friends just incase I didn’t make it

Just telling my friends to stop celebrating because I MADE IT!

Gliding up in the air was an absolutely amazing experience, I didn’t want it to end. The views of the emerald sea was breathtaking and I was very humbled after this activity.

Feeling FREE

The picture does not even do the view justice

OKAY last one I promise!

If you have time I would definitely recommend going to try it out even if you are afraid of heights, once you are up there nothing else matters! My flight time was around 10 minutes, which does not include the time it takes for you to get up there and back down.

Ringo Cafe

First things first the Macarons! I Found this cafe called Ringo Cafe, it is run by a man from France who came over to Okinawa and opened his own small cafe for desserts.

small droplets of heaven

I also got a takeaway because after this I wanted MORE!

I fell inn-love from my first bite! I ALWAYS come here when I am around the area! The cafe is in a small traditional style Okinawan house and the atmosphere is very chilled. It is minutes away from Sesoko Beach and definitely worth going to!

It was absolutely cute inside – If you are tall you may need to bend down

Sunset Lookout

This look out we found by accident, we were on our way home and needed to stop at the Daiso to pick up some snacks. As we were going back to the car we noticed a lot of people parking up against the wall before the bridge to Sesoko Island.

It was so magical

We went to go have a look and it was one of the most perfect places to sit and watch the sunset! Check online what time the sun is due to set on the day you are planning to go, for us the sun set around 19:30.

Born in Philippines, I was raised in the UK. I came to Okinawa for the reason of getting away from the busy life in London and finding myself again. I・love・travel. From laying on the beach to trekking up mountains. I love it! I don’t like mayonnaise and vinegar and I don’t know why! What I am sure about I’m just living my best life right now.
